We have options for any schedule with online classes, hybrid courses, classes at multiple locations throughout Duval County and Nassau County and fully online degrees.

Your transcripts are an important part of the application and registration process!
If you graduated from a public high school in Duval County (after June 1989), St. Johns County (after June 1993) or Clay County (after June 1992) county, the College will request an official transcript after we receive your application. If our request is not honored by the high school, students will be notified by mail to request their own official transcript. If you graduated from a public or private high school outside of Duval, St. Johns or Clay counties, please have your high school send an official transcript indicating your graduation date to:

If you have attended any other college or university, please request each school to forward your official transcript to the above address. All post-secondary transcripts must be received and evaluated before a student can attend college credit orientation through FSCJ Smart Start. All transcripts must be received and evaluated to be approved for financial aid.
4 Apply for Residency

5 Complete College Assessment
If required, you can assess your current skills and college readiness through assessment and placement tests. These tests help College staff determine your initial set of college courses. Students with Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) or American College Testing (ACT) scores that are less than two years old may use their test scores for placement. Your placement determination must be complete to be eligible to attend college credit orientation. If you want to complete your assessment on the same day as orientation, you can schedule an appointment to complete testing through FSCJ Smart Start by calling 361-6230. To set up an appointment at another site and complete the process prior to your orientation, learn more about available assessments and locations at Assessment and Certification .
Notification of Common Placement Testing and Developmental Education Exemptions (November 2013):
If you entered ninth grade in 2003 or after and earned a Florida high school diploma, or you are an active duty member of the military, you are not required to take the college placement test or enroll in developmental education as of spring 2014.
6 Apply for Financial Aid and Scholarships

7 Schedule Orientation
New students pursing a college-credit degree or technical certificate are required to complete orientation through FSCJ Smart Start. To register for orientation, you must have completed the placement testing process and all incoming college transcripts must be complete and evaluated (if applicable). During college-credit orientation, students explore career options, discover College resources, learn to navigate the student portal and meet with an academic advisor.
